The Walker
M41 Bulldog tank was a post WW11 development with production starting in1951 at
Cadillac's Cleveland Tank plant. A 'Light' tank with a heavy
punch, it was initially named the 'Little Bulldog' then renamed to
'Walker Bulldog' after General Walton Walker who was killed during the Korean
war where the tank saw limited action.
It was
rushed to the Korean front to combat the Russian supplied T-34's which were
being used by the Koreans and was the premier battlefield tank up to that
time.
The M41
A3's also saw action in Vietnam where it proved very successful.
In 1971,
Bulldogs took part in an action called Operation Lam Son 719 in Laos where the
M41's ended up destroying 22 communist tanks, six T-54's and sixteen PT-76's
with no loss to themselves.
